Todd Haynes’ gay romance De Noche, which shut down about a year ago, is being revived, with Pedro Pascal joining the cast, as per Deadline. Pascal would reunite with Danny Ramirez, who was originally attached. The production is slated to resume in the New Year in Guadalajara, Mexico, carefully coordinated around Pascal’s busy schedule through 2026. The revival brings new hope to a project long considered dead after Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix unexpectedly departed. Producer Vachon called the initial shutdown a “tragedy” for the LGBTQ-focused film.

Pedro Pascal is set to reunite with Danny Ramirez, who first held ties to the project, portraying two lovers leaving Los Angeles for Mexico in a 1930s setting, as per the report. The feature will be produced by Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler’s Killer Films, the same company that collaborated with Pascal on A24’s summer romantic comedy Materialists, which grossed eighty-five million worldwide. This revival adds a fresh layer of anticipation, giving De Noche a renewed spark of artistic and cultural significance.
