The world of Game of Thrones was full of shocking and
often uncomfortable moments, but for actors Sophie Turner and Kit Harington,
some of the most cringe-inducing scenes were yet to come. The two, who played
on-screen siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow for eight seasons, have reunited
for a new project that required them to get a bit more intimate than a family
reunion. Turner recently revealed just how awkward it was to transition from a
brother-sister dynamic to a romantic one while filming their new movie, The
Dreadful, a gothic horror film that features them as a couple.
The actress opened up about the awkward encounter she faced
while shooting The Dreadful while giving an interview.

During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers,
Sophie Turner revealed the strange feeling she had while reading the script for
her upcoming film, The Dreadful. As she was reviewing the script, a
realization hit her as she read the intimate scenes, including “Kiss, kiss, s–, kiss, sex”. She had suggested her
former Game of Thrones co-star, Kit Harington, for the role before
reading the intimate scene, and had not fully processed the close physical
contact the film would require of them, sending her in shock as she realized he was her brother. It was a jolt back to their on-screen
sibling relationship as Sansa and Jon.
Sophie Turner further explained how strange the experience
became once they were on set. Turner stated that when they filmed their first
kissing scene, both she and Kit Harington were so uncomfortable that they were “retching.”
She described the moment as “vile” and one of the worst
moments of her career, even ranking it above an unpleasant experience she had
with cockroaches. Despite the initial weirdness, she and Harington agreed to do
the film because the script was so well-written.
The former costars are reuniting for a new project, years
after the end of the hit show, Game of Thrones. What does the new
project have in place to serve?
A New Gothic Horror Film, The Dreadful
The new film, The Dreadful, is a gothic horror story
set during the War of the Roses. The plot centers on Anne, played by Sophie Turner,
and her mother-in-law, Morwen, who live a life of solitude on the outskirts of
society. Their quiet existence is upended by the return of a mysterious man
from their past, played by Kit Harington, which triggers a sequence of
life-altering events for Anne. The film is directed by Natasha Kermani.

While there is no official release date for The Dreadful,
the film is expected to premiere sometime in the end of 2025. Along with
Sophie Turner, who is also producing the movie, other producers include Luke
Daniels of Redwire Pictures/Tunnel and Patrick Muldoon and Patrick Hibler of
Storyboard Media. Until then, Netflix serves a good scary platter to enjoy.
